GHOSTS ARE IN THE MOOD

Ghosts are in the mood

to close their arms around time

They’ll never know the first

ray of light is a pearl without

its shell

And shine words on the wall

A luscious cascade of sounds

after the robin has jumped down

on the grass

Crisp and haunting and cool

is the moan

Rebellious pity of a move

sparkling over

A stenciled round muffled voice

ahead crosses its legs and spreads

like the desert when the wind blows

in the dark and no more signs

are on the sand

Far away a wish without fail grasps

the ribbon of a new day

Suddenly a dormant tenderness

appears on a bare branch and sings
